Marie Antoinette

marie5.jpg (57149 bytes)"The French Queen", born in 1755. She was one of 16 children born to Maria Theresa and Francis I. Her given birth name was Antonia during the French revolution. Later she married the crown prince, Louis in 1774. At that time his father had passed away leaving him to be the King of France. Antonia then changed her name to be Marie Antoinette while he was now known as King Louis XVI.

Bob and Lee has designed a truly exquisite gown for this Lady of Royalty, the Queen herself, much as she would have worn during her rein. Keeping with the 18th century style, her gown is made of various silk brocades, laces, and fringes. Her top is made of a beautiful gold silk satin sprinkled with hand sewn gold seed beads and edged with an ivory lace. The waist is beaded trim in various shades to compliment both the top and the very elegant skirt. Supported with toole and a hand tied cage bustle, the burgundy brocade gown is topped with a polka dotted French silk brocade edged in a gold fringe. The hem line is graced with a long ivory lace and a gold satin loop trim work atop.

Accompanying this detailed and very well designed gown are the genuinemarie9.jpg (58466 bytes) gems of garnets, pearls and gold seed beading. The Queens earrings are made of antiqued brass filigree with champagne pearls in the center. Bob and Lee finishes with a stunning hand made feather fan of turkey and pheasant feathers. The white ostrich feather plums in her powdered hair is attached to a faux pearl hairpin. When out for a cool evening stroll, Marie Antoinette wraps herself in a French silk chiffon shawl, gold with a baroque pattern and edged in an ivory lace and trimmed inside with a satin braided trim.
