Madame Claudette
This is an original design by Bob and Lee of an 18th century high
society lady. In this period there were only two levels in society, upper and
,of course lower. The lower class would have had a total of 3 dresses, if they were
lucky. The upper class would have had 6 and maybe as much as 8 to choose from.
The problem was storage. The fabrics had to be light in weight and kept away
from the body when possible by cages and hoops. This particular lady is wearing
a three hoop skirt along with a petticoat of toole netting for comfort.
Typical of the French ladies, Madame Claudette would attend all of the social
events, and be in charge of running the servants, as well as the household.
Maybe not so much has changed up to today.
Bob and Lee designed a simple, but yet elegant black taffeta dress with the
compliments of a tan intricate loose lace on the hem. A much tighter and
sculpted trim work is at the neck and on the sleeves, as well as down the center
of the top itself. All of the jewelry consist of genuine champagne pearls, pink
pearls and savarski crystals. Claudette is wearing a r’esille of black lace on
the back of her head to contain her beautiful red curley hair and is crested at
the top with a faux gold and pearl hair ornament. Satin roses in the front of
her hair contain real champagne pearls in the centers.Bob and Lee, both put a
lot of attention into the details of this gown. Special attention has been paid
to the black lace overlaid skirt for it to be carefully pulled up with ivory
ribbon flowers as
to get the perfect draping of the lace. The back of the dress is accented with a
ribbon bow at the waist and nestled satin roses with real champagne pearl
centers. Madame Claudettes handbag is made of taffeta overlaid with black lace
and given a satin ribbon handle so it to be gathered closed. She is Simplistic
Elegance!
